HOW THE PRACTICE WORKS

Think.
Create.
Work.

ONE PRACTICE
THREE MODES

Algorithm Resistance moves through three connected modes. THINK develops questions. CREATE transforms questions and knowledge into artifacts. WORK places those artifacts into use and exchange.

What returns—evidence, experience, relationships, income and new questions—begins the process again. Start with a question. Follow what it becomes.

01 / QUESTIONS

Think

What am I trying to understand?

THINK begins with observations, tensions and questions. Ideas are developed through research, experience, comparison, conversation and reflection. A THINK output may be an essay, inquiry, research note or developing framework. It does not have to provide a final answer. Its purpose is to make the question clearer and reveal what might be worth creating.

Gate question: Is the inquiry sufficiently clear and meaningful to begin creating something from it?

02 / TRANSFORMATION

Create

What can this become?

CREATE transforms one or more THINK inquiries into a recognisable artifact. The transformation may involve writing, synthesis, modelling, design, composition, experimentation or collaboration. The result might be a book, framework, visual model, tool, piece of music, workshop, installation or event concept.

Gate question: Is there now an identifiable, usable and responsibly owned artifact that can enter the world?

Fan Relationship Framework

Research, literature and empirical cases are being transformed into a comparative framework for understanding fan relationships and the forms of cultural value they make possible.

03 / EXCHANGE

Work

How can this enter the world?

WORK places developed artifacts into practical, public or economic exchange. Someone can read, buy, attend, book, commission, licence, partner or collaborate. Every WORK entry therefore needs a clear audience, promise, form of delivery and next action.

Gate question: Can the offer be entered into responsibly, delivered as promised and observed afterward?

No offer without a usable form.

WORK appears when an artifact has a real public action. It is not a list of ambitions. It is where a person can attend, buy, book, commission, partner or collaborate.

Work returns evidence, relationships and income to the questions.
The cycle begins again.
